Les nématodes phytoparasites causent des dégâts énormes aux cultures, voire même une perte totale des récoltes. Pour des raisons d’ordre économique, la lutte chimique préventive est utilisée pour faire face à leurs dégâts. Les nématicides créent des risques à la fois aux applicateurs (risque d’intoxication au contact des nématicides), aux consommateurs (risque de résidus) et l’environnement (empoisonnement du milieu, destruction des organismes non ciblés etc). Face à ces risques, la recherche d’alternatives à la lutte chimique s’avère nécessaire. A la SCL, Crotalaria juncea L., 1753 considérée comme méthode de lutte biologique est utilisée pour lutter contre les nématodes à galles. Notre étude est de contribuer à la gestion durable des nématodes phytoparasites du genre Meloidogyne en culture légumière. Pour cela, la croissance des plantes de crotalaire dans une parcelle potentiellement infestée de nématodes à galles ainsi que l’évolution des populations de Meloidogyne durant le cycle de développement de la crotalaire, ont été suivie. Les résultats ont montré une densité à trente (30) jrs après semis de 276571 plantes de crotalaire à l’hectare, soit 50% des 545404 graines semées à l’hectare. La densité à la floraison est de 235600 plantes à l’hectare, soit une perte de 15%. Les résultats d’analyses nématologiques ont montré une baisse significative des populations de Meloidogyne dans les échantillons de sol et une absence des populations de Meloidogyne dans les échantillons de racines. De même, au niveau de la zone témoin, où la jachère a été pratiquée comme moyen de lutte, on note aussi une diminution des populations de Meloidogyne.
