La forte prolifération des ravageurs surtout Bactrocera invadens et Ceratitis cosyra ont causé des pertes la production de l’ordre de 30 à 60% dans la zone des Niayes voire 80% dans la région de Ziguinchor. C’est ainsi que des investigations ont été menées de juillet à septembre dans les zones de vergers et de forêts pour étudier les plantes hôtes et les parasitoïdes de B. invadens et C. cosyra en basse Casamance. Ces investigations ont concerné également le suivi des lâchers de F. arisanus dans les zones d’essais. Cette étude a permis de constater des niveaux des émergences de Tephritidae et de parasitoïdes importants en période hivernage et faible au sortir de la saison des pluies. Des spécimens de C. cosyra ont émergé de 4 plantes hôtes telles que Sarcocephalius latifolius, Annona senegalensis, Icacina senegalensis et Mangifera indica. L’espèce B. invadens a émergé des fruits de M. indica, A. senegalensis, S. latifolius. Le ravageur C. punctata a aussi infesté les fruits de M. indica, S. senegalensis et Citrus aurantium. A l’instar des Tephritidae, 8 parasitoïdes dont 7 Braconidae (Diachasmimorpha fullawayii, D. carinata, Fopius silvestrii, F. caudatus, F. desideratus, F. arisanus et Psyttalia cosyrae) et un Pteromalidae (Pteromalus sp) ont été notés. La découverte de F. arisanus dans les émergences issues des fruits collectés des zones de lâchers est un fait encourageant pour les tests d’introduction de ce parasitoïde en vue de développer la lutte biologique contre B. invadens. Toute fois l’introduction d’un parasitoïde larvaire comme D. longicaudata pour renforcer l’action parasitoïde ovopupal F. arisanus.
