Le sésame (Sesamum indicum L.) est une culture oléagineuse faisant l’objet d’un commerce international en plein essor des graines, de l’huile et du tourteau. Au Sénégal, un engouement des producteurs vers des cultures moins exigeantes en eau et en intrants s’est vite développé pour augmenter leur revenu et renforcer leur sécurité alimentaire dans un contexte de variabilité climatique. L’objectif de cette étude consistait à
évaluer la productivité de cinq (05) mutants de sésame tolérants à la sècheresse et de leurs deux (02) parents dans différentes zones agro-écologiques du Sénégal. Pour ce faire, un test multi-local a été effectué dans les stations expérimentales de l’ISRA (Bambey-CNRA, Dara, Darou-Nioro, Sinthiou Maleme-Tamba, Vélingara et Séfa-Sedhiou) dans un dispositif en blocs complets randomisés avec 4 répétitions. Les résultats obtenus ont montré des différences significatives entre les sept (7) variétés de sésame étudiées, pour tous les paramètres agro-morphologiques et de rendement excepte le poids des grains par plante. A Sinthiou Maleme et à Darou, les mutants Lc 164 et Ef 147 ont obtenus les PMG et les NCP les plus élevés, Ef 153 ayant enregistré le PMG le plus faible et la HIPC la plus élevée. Il ressort aussi de cette étude que les mutants Lc 162 et Ef 153 ont plus de capsules par pied. Cependant, pour le rendement les différences significatives entre ces variétés ont été notées à Bambey et à Sinthiou, le mutant Hb 168 présentant le meilleur rendement (respectivement 727,49 Kg/ha et 1604,5Kg/ha). Des interactions significatives entre le facteur « variété » et le facteur « site » ont été remarquées pour les variables rendement (RDT) et poids de mille graines (PMG). Les variétés étudiées ont été plus performantes à Sinthiou Malem qu’à Dahra qui a enregistré les rendements les plus faibles qui pourraient être dus au déficit hydrique (provoqué par une pause pluviométrique) survenu lors de la production des capsules.
